4. I use YouTube and that's pretty much it. Sometimes I check out Ning to see what they've cooked up lately. I don't use del.icio.us but I do have LiveMarks (the AJAX that shows del.icio.us bookmarks in realtime) set as my active desktop.

5. Immedi.at, an RSS to IM service, which I love so much I'd marry it if only I could get it to work regularly. But I've been emailing with their tech support so much that it qualifies as one of my top 5 services used of late. Can you imagine? RSS to IM? OMG. I've got 300 feeds in well organized folders by theme and priority, but there are some feeds that are just too important for anything less than instant notification! Immedi.at tech support says they can't recreate my problem, so maybe others here will be able to use it without a hitch. Do let me know!

Whew, I've been wanting to write a review of immedi.at for days and this is the closest I've come. Way to go with a great post to get discussion rolling.

9. I would check out vSocial, the video clip sharing community, which is growing like a weed.

What separates it from the other video clip sharing sites is that they enable users to actually "do something" with video clips beyond the just being a big hard drive.

So, for example, in the vSocial scheme of things, if you embedded a clip on your blog, you will see a meta layer that enables you to see how this clip was tagged by vSocial members, see what comments were made about it by them, and email the clip to friends in a click -- all without going to another site.

Plus they provide a tool called a video roll that enables users to tell short stories (e.g., favorite horror movies) using an amalgam of clips.

To get a quickie primer on this and see-touch-feel what I am talking about, check out the post that I wrote on the topic called "Short attention, short conversations and video clips"

1) visual - hopping from avatar to avatar, it can be a very visual community
2) content - since it is focused on web finds, the blogging has a focus more likely to be interesting based on your choice of blogger
3) caste, statistics, hierarchy - there is immediate feedback for the blogger on interest in their contributions and easy-click connectivity to anyone who looks at their blog.

I am in the process of launching the beta version of evenamonkey.com. a community site for exchange of ideas. by using free-tagging rather than a fixed taxonomy, people can submit ideas on topics not yet imagined. The community has a chance to rate these idea submissions and when the votes are tallied, we will have our top eight submitted ideas. MonkeyPoints will be earned for submitting ideas, as well as site participation (rating items, comments)
